Revolution New Menu Launch

Revolution on Mitchell Street is already one of my go to venues for some of the best cocktails in Glasgow so I was delighted to be asked along to try out their new food menu.

The drinks menu is quite frankly massive with lots of fun concoctions to choose between! These are made for Instagram as their served in an array of glassware and edible garnishes such as rainbow drops, sugar lips and glitter.

They already offered a decent amount of vegan options but the new menu promised even more choice with vegan alternatives to their most popular dishes and some exciting new additions.

It turned out my friend and fellow vegan blogger, EatingDrinkingVegan had been invited too so we booked in together with a couple of other plant munching pals.

New starters, or grazers as their menu reads, now includes vegan nachos and sticky seitan bites. Seitan when over cooked can easily become dry but these were really tasty. We ordered the sharer portion of nachos and were all really impressed. The crisps were coated in spices topped with a generous amount of melted vegan cheese, jalapeños, salsa and guacamole. I’d definitely order both again.

They have kept olives and hummus on the menu which do the trick if you just fancy a wee nibble with a cocktail.

Rev had pizzas available prior to new menu launch but they finally now have vegan pizza! A classic Marga’Cheeta if you are a plain Jane or Pepper’phoni if you prefer something more “meaty”, calories counters can opt for “skinny” versions of each. I am happy to report the pizzas passed the melty cheese test.

They now have 4 vegan burgers; Classic plant burger, bacon and cheese plant burger, some like it hot plant burger and smashed Mexican plant burger. All the burgers are served with skinny fries. To be honest I didn’t love the burgers but that was really down to personal taste as a bit too meaty for me. Oh and be warned the some like it hot had one hell of a kick.

They also offer a seitan fried chicken style wrap with salad and bbq sauce, I’d give this a try next time as I really enjoyed the seitan I had as a starter.

Sides include 3 styles of chips (skinny, fat or sweet potato), onion rings, salad and a random rice that really doesn’t go with any of their vegan options.

I was so glad to see the raspberry sponge cake hadn’t been removed from the menu, if you pay Revolution a visit save room for dessert as this cake is delicious! It has a rich chocolate layer and comes with raspberry and prosecco sorbet. Yum.

The new menu definitely doesn’t treat vegan food as just a second thought with lots of options to choose from and even creamy drinks can be made dairy free.

I’ll definitely be back for Friday night cocktails and nachos!
